Sameer Gupta (he/him) is a Master of Arts candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. He recently graduated from York University with a degree in Work and Labour Studies. At York, he served as President of the Work and Labour Studies Student Association, and contributed to ongoing research on diverse areas of interest to the labour movement in Canada and internationally, including the impact of emerging technologies on collective bargaining.
Sameer also studied the evolution of post-WWII Canadian foreign policy, and hopes to continue this research at the Balsillie School. He is particularly interested in Canada’s understudied role in pioneering neoliberal development models in Latin America, and how labour movements in the Global South navigate contexts where neocolonialism continues to alter the structure of politics, economy, and society.
