Saman Ibrahim Qureshi

Master of International Public Policy

Saman Qureshi is a graduate student at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, where she is pursuing a Master of International Public Policy. She earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with specialization in public policy from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2025. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Saman developed a strong foundation in comparative politics, public policy, global governance, and international affairs, cultivating a particular interest in trade and migration policy, human security, and international economic relations.

Alongside her academic pursuits, Saman has built diverse experience across government, policy advocacy, and political engagement. She served as a Constituency Office Volunteer with the Office of Member of Parliament Paul Chiang, where she supported legislative and community engagement initiatives, prepared policy adjacent materials, assisted with stakeholder outreach, and contributed to the planning and execution of public events. Prior to this, she worked as a Policy Advocacy Volunteer with the Canada–Pakistan Business Council (CPBC), conducting research on trade policy, investment frameworks, and regulatory issues while contributing to policy recommendations that promoted bilateral economic cooperation. She also participated in high-level stakeholder engagement with diplomats, government officials, and industry leaders.

Saman has further developed her understanding of Canadian politics through campaign work as a volunteer with Yasir Naqvi’s Ontario Liberal Party leadership campaign, where she supported voter outreach, public engagement strategies, and campaign operations. These experiences strengthened her commitment to evidence based policymaking, effective public service, and meaningful civic engagement.

Beyond her professional experience, Saman has remained actively involved in university and community organizations. She has served with the Wilfrid Laurier University Muslim Students’ Association, HanVoice Laurier Chapter, the Pakistani Students’ Association, and The Citizens Foundation, contributing to initiatives focused on community engagement, social advocacy, leadership, and communications.

Saman’s academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of migration governance, AI and digital policy, international development, human security, and public policy. She is particularly interested in examining how governments design inclusive immigration systems, protect vulnerable populations, and balance economic growth with social equity. Her work also explores the role of international institutions, comparative policy learning, and global cooperation in addressing contemporary challenges such as displacement, labour mobility, and sustainable development.

Following the completion of the Master of International Public Policy program, Saman aspires to build a career in public policy and international affairs, working with government institutions or international organizations to develop innovative, evidence based policies that strengthen global cooperation and improve outcomes for diverse communities. Through her work, she hopes to contribute to more inclusive, effective, and equitable public policy that addresses complex global challenges while advancing human dignity and sustainable development.
