Ryan Williams is a former Member of Parliament and business leader whose work bridges public policy and entrepreneurship. He is recognized for advancing economic policies in competition, trade, digital governance, and open banking, while drawing on his experience as the third-generation leader of Williams Hotels and as founder of a rural innovation network. As MP for Bay of Quinte (2021–2025), Williams served as Official Opposition Critic for Competition and Trade, where he advanced policies to strengthen competition, break up monopolies, and improve Canada’s trade relationships. He introduced a Private Member’s Bill on Open Banking (C-365), which passed second reading, and sat on the Industry and Technology Committee, contributing to Bill C-27 on digital governance, AI, and privacy. In 2016, Williams founded QuinteVation, a rural innovation policy group that hosted Canada’s first Rural Innovation Summit and partnered with Accelerate Okanagan to launch RevUp, an accelerator program that helped companies achieve an average of 130% revenue growth. An experienced public speaker, Williams was the Closing Keynote Speaker at the 2024 Open Banking Expo in Toronto and has appeared in the Globe and Mail, National Post, and Financial Post. His contributions have been recognized with a Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International and as Volunteer Business Leader of the Year. Through the fellowship, Williams seeks to deepen research in trade, competition, and innovation while applying these insights to practical policy solutions. He lives in Belleville, Ontario, with his wife Allyson and their three children.
