Dr. Münür Sacit Herdem is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Adıyaman University, Turkiye, and an Adjunct Faculty member in the Management Science Department at the University of Waterloo. Currently, he is a scholar at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA), where his research focuses on the policy and technological governance of green hydrogen within the context of sustainable energy transitions. Dr. Herdem is working to define the most promising priority areas for implementing green hydrogen to enhance global energy resiliency and security. His research aims to develop governance frameworks supporting the adoption of large-scale green hydrogen technology.
Dr. Herdem earned his Master’s degree and Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur, where his research explored various energy conversion technologies, including coal gasification, fuel cells, and fuel reforming. He continued his post-doctoral studies at the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) under the mentorship of Dr. Jatin Nathwani and Dr. John Wen, broadening his expertise in sustainable energy systems.
His current work also addresses integrating big data and innovative energy technologies to design next-generation energy conversion systems. With a global network spanning over 30 countries, Dr. Herdem brings exceptional communication skills, cultural adaptability, and a collaborative approach to solving complex energy challenges.
