Dr. Kankar Bhattacharya is Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he also holds a University Research Chair. His research focuses on power systems, electricity markets, energy storage systems, microgrids, smart grids, mathematical modelling and systems analysis. He has been a member of Waterloo’s Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty since 2003 and is recognized for his leadership in electricity systems research and education. As a member of the Inaugural Advisory Forum, Dr. Bhattacharya brings deep academic and technical expertise in power system transformation, grid modernization, electricity markets and the integration of emerging technologies into future energy systems.
