Joshua Wright is a graduate student in the Masters of International Public Policy program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Before attending the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Joshua attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, achieving an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Studies, a minor in History and a certificate in Urban Planning. While studying at Queen’s Joshua took a strong liking to international relations and international political economy. His academic interest led to him focusing on how economics can influence international power dynamics and development. Outside of the classroom, Joshua had played competitive soccer for 15 years in Canada. He hopes to take his leadership skills gained through the love of soccer into his academic and professional life.
While completing the Master of International Public Policy, Joshua aims to specialize in international economic policy and environmental public policy. His ambition is to examine the intersection between politics and economics to gain a better understanding of how Canada can further improve its public policy in terms of fiscal responsibility, sustainable development, and societal well-being. He looks forward to gaining a better understanding of how to create meaningful public policy that works in harmony with economic growth and urban development that promotes Canada’s environmental goals. By looking at the intersection between politics and economics, Joshua hopes to provide a pathway through which Canada can further improve its global strength through economic growth and sustainable urban development.
Upon completion of the program, Joshua would like to start a career that serves Canadians by working with trade policy. His goal is to promote policy that benefits Canada’s global financial strength and provides Canadians with urban economic policies that create meaningful development that promotes sustainable economic growth.
