Ganiyat Sadiq is a Nigerian-Canadian advocate and researcher dedicated to addressing systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities. She is the Co-Founder and former Co-Executive Officer External of the Black Inclusion Association, a non-profit organization committed to promoting equity and justice for Black Albertans.

Her academic background bridges the gap between scholarship and practice. Ganiyat holds a Master’s in International Affairs from Carleton University, specializing in International Development Policy and African Studies. She also earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Honours Political Science and International Relations from the University of Calgary, along with a Certificate in Pluralism and Global Citizenship. Currently, Ganiyat is pursuing her PhD in Global Governance with an Interdisciplinary Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Climate Change.

With more than six years of experience in non-profits, campaigns, and community organizations, Ganiyat has worked in policy development, communications, and government relations. Her research and advocacy interests include decolonization, neocolonialism in sub-Saharan Africa, human rights, and the influence of global governance on the Global South.

This work is both professional and personal. Drawing on her experiences as a Nigerian and Canadian, she is dedicated to helping build institutions where all communities genuinely feel they belong. She has contributed to designing and delivering anti-racism and social justice programs across public and private sectors, focusing on practical, enduring change. From February 2023 to March 2025, Ganiyat served on former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Youth Council, where she provided input on youth-centered policies and inclusive development.
