Abdirisak Ali

 

Abdirisak Ali is a graduate student in the Master of Development Practice (MDP) at the University of Waterloo. His interest of Development Practices stems from professional journey, lived experience and commitment to fostering equitable and sustainable world.

His Bachelor of Business Administration and Diploma in Community Development provided him with a strong foundation in analytical and managerial skills. These studies deepened his understanding of the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of development challenges. Over the years, his professional journey has been defined by impactful work across Somalia, Kenya, and Canada, where he has led and supported initiatives that advance education equity, promote mental well-being, and strengthen housing stability.

In addition to more interests in environmental sustainability, migration and mobility, public policy and peacebuilding, Abdirisak’s work is driven by a strong dedication to community development, educational justice and sustainable housing. He is committed to developing inclusive and viable solutions that promote environmental sustainability, human well-being, and community resilience while addressing social and economic disparities.

Abdirisak hopes to deepen his ability to tackle complex global challenges with empathy, innovation and collaboration, guided by his professional experience and the MDP’s interdisciplinary focus on social, health, management, and natural sciences. His goal is to apply this knowledge to create lasting change across both public and community sectors
