John Hancock, Balsillie Scholar and WTO Policy Advisor, shares some thoughts on the nature of geopolitical competition in an interdependent global economy. Why the ties that bind also chafe.

About the Speaker

John Hancock works at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he has served as senior policy advisor to the Director-General, representative to the IMF and World Bank, head of policy development, and G20/G7 Sous Sherpa. Prior to joining the WTO, John was senior advisor to Canada’s trade minister. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University, has written and spoken frequently on international issues.
