Gabriel completed his PhD and Master’s degrees in International Relations at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in 2024 and 2021, respectively. For his PhD dissertation, he examined regional security cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations from 2001 to 2022. Currently, he writes and moderates discussions on defense and security issues in the Indo-Pacific region, helping bridge gaps among stakeholders, including the military, politicians, and academia. He previously served as an assistant lecturer in Russia and, before studying there, as a defense analyst for the Philippine Navy. As he enters the MIPP program at BSIA, Gabriel aims to broaden his focus from defense and security to civilian and private-sector policy work.
