Saja is a graduate student in the Master of International Public Policy program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2023 with an Honours BA in Global Studies, concentrating in International Development.
During her undergraduate degree, Saja was actively involved in International Students Overcoming War (ISOW), a student-led initiative that provides scholarships for students from conflict-affected regions, serving as President in her final year. Her work with ISOW brought her into regular contact with students navigating institutional systems that were meant to support them but often did not, and shaped her interest in the distance between policy as written and policy as experienced. She has since worked as a Data Specialist with the Regional Municipality of Halton and as Youth Engagement Lead at Seeds of Leadership, a youth leadership development organization.
Through her graduate studies, Saja is interested in international legal frameworks and the conditions under which they are actually enforced. She is drawn to work that treats data and lived experience as equally serious sources of evidence, and hopes to build a career in policy development at the international level.
