Shelly Eh is pursuing a Master of Development Practice (MDP) at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA), exploring plural and gender-inclusive perspectives on international development, sustainability, and public policy.
Through the Leadership and Democracy (L&D) Lab, a student-led think tank, Shelly has gained experience in policy research and analysis, examining how governance, geopolitics, and international institutions influence development outcomes. She applied this to political-risk research on OTPP’s investment in Mahindra Susten, a renewable energy company in India, assessing currency, inflation, interest-rate, and renewable-energy cost risks.
As a Constituent Assistant in an MPP’s office, Shelly researched policy and legislation, supported a Private Member’s Bill, drafted government correspondence, and represented the MPP at community events.
This past summer, Shelly co-hosted her first fundraiser in support of War Child Canada, a humanitarian organization working alongside local partners to support children and families affected by conflict through education, economic opportunities, and vocational training. The initiative brought community members across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) together in support of a shared cause and raised over $1,600 to contribute to War Child Canada’s ongoing work.
Shelly currently serves as the SEED professional-stream representative for the Environment Graduate Student Association (EGSA) and as an MDP representative on the BSIA Council, representing students and contributing to graduate student initiatives.
Lastly, she hopes to pursue a career in international development, focusing on gender equity, sustainability, and pluriversal approaches to policy and practice.
