Natasha Shantz

Master of Arts in Global Governance

Natasha graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in June of 2025, earning her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with high distinction. Throughout her degree, she also pursued a minor in Anthropology, which has fuelled her focus on a humanistic approach to international studies. In her final undergraduate year, Natasha worked as an Instructional Assistant for a first-year Communication Studies cours. Her dedication to an interdisciplinary education at Laurier has provided her with a basis of critical thinking and an interest in research topics of global relations and human rights, particularly in relation to gender and race studies. She is excited to explore such ideas and narrow her focus within the context of global policy.

Some of Natasha’s most valuable experiences throughout the past several years have been linked to the enriching global exchanges offered by Laurier International. In the fall of 2023, she participated in a student exchange to Limerick, Ireland. In 2024, she obtained a co-op position as a Global Engagement Program Assistant for Laurier International, working to support incoming and outgoing exchange students at Laurier. Both opportunities furthered Natasha’s interest in intercultural relations.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Natasha spent the fall of 2025 volunteering at a hostel in Genoa, Italy and travelling around southern Europe, experiencing the joys of a global community every day. She returned to her hometown of Uxbridge, Ontario to work at her local brewery for the remainder of her gap year.

Natasha is looking forward to developing her research focuses and participating in crucial, timely discussions of global issues in her journey at the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
