Mulugeta F. Dinbabo is a Professor of Development Studies, at the Institute for Social Development (ISD), Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS), University of the Western Cape. He obtained his PhD degree in Development Studies from the University of the Western Cape. He also has two MA Degrees in Development Management and Development Studies, from the Ruhr University, Germany and the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, respectively.
Professor Dinbabo is a National Research Foundation (NRF), C2-Rated Established Researcher, whose research trajectories have been influenced by the critical role of Development/Migration Studies and Postgraduate Teaching. He has consulted for the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), African Union (AU), South African Government Departments and others. His major research and consultancy services include Development Management, Migration Studies, Governance, Intergovernmental Relations and Civil Society Capacity Building.
Professor Dinbabo has supervised and graduated more than 55 Master’s and PhD Degrees in Development Studies at the Institute for Social Development, University of the Western Cape. He has built a stronger research ethic and published extensively in local and international journals. So far he has produced over 60 publications in peer-reviewed or refereed local and international journals. He is also the founder and Chief Editor of the African Human Mobility Review (AHMR), which is an accredited journal by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in South Africa. AHMR is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed on-line journal created to encourage and facilitate the study of all aspects (socio-economic, political, legislative and developmental) of Human Mobility in Africa.
