Meena Sabeeh is a graduate candidate in the Global Governance program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. She completed her Honours undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Guelph, graduating with distinction.
Throughout her undergraduate studies, Meena developed a strong interest in diplomacy, international cooperation, and the political dynamics of the Middle East. Her academic focus has focused on international relations, conflict resolution, and human rights, culminating in presentations at multiple academic forums, including the Middle East Studies Association conference. Her more recent research, presented at the 8th International Blue Black Sea Congress in Istanbul, critiques modern liberal peacebuilding models and draws on lessons from regional conflicts to propose strategies adaptable across diverse contexts.
Her passion for humanitarian work is reflected in her long-standing volunteer involvement with organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross and Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington, where she supported newcomers through English conversation circles. She also participated in a charity deployment to Jordan, where she assisted in refugee camps and served as a translator for Arabic-speaking communities. Her engagement in extracurricular programs such as the Institute for Future Legislators further solidified her commitment to public service and international diplomacy. There, she explored key policy issues including climate change, democratic reform, and foreign affairs.
Meena is particularly interested in the intersections of governance, regional peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction, with a regional focus on the Middle East. She is eager to further explore these topics and engage with the interdisciplinary and policy-oriented environment at Balsillie and contribute to the community as both a scholar and practitioner-in-training.
