Andrew David Olson

Master of Arts in Global Governance

Andrew Olson graduated in 2023 from Carleton University with a double major in History and Economics. He also holds a certificate in Data Analytics from McMaster University. He previously worked within the federal government at the National Research Council.

Andrew’s research interests center on the history of banking, the impact of infrastructure on trade and the interaction between geography and movement. His writing usually centers on interactions between states, institutions and geography. He also has written on the relationship between dominant modes of transportation and state power.

He specializes in global history, particularly the early modern period and around colonial and decolonial studies. He also specializes in the use of big economic data, particularly that related to family and gendered economics.
