Christy Lorenz graduated in 2022 with First Class distinction from Glendon College, York University, earning a bilingual Honours International Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Communications. She spent the last six months of her degree studying abroad at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, where she honed her understanding of international politics, soaked up knowledge from EU civil service members, and improved her French language skills.

As an inaugural Vice-President of the Top Scholar program at Glendon College—a circle of ambitious, well-rounded students who strive for academic excellence—Christy is passionate about leadership and scholarship. She was selected to be a part of Glendon’s Research Apprenticeship Program for three consecutive years, where she seized the opportunity to conduct research in close collaboration with faculty members. With studies spanning from the impact of contemporary surveillance practices on liberal democracy, to the intersection of gender and war, to Bruce Springsteen and the relationship between music and politics, Christy enjoyed devising projects and delving into the world of academic inquiry across a multitude of research areas.

Christy looks forward to applying and broadening her knowledge of global politics as a graduate student at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Her research interests currently involve digital governance, technology policy, surveillance studies, and the environment. When she is not studying, Christy enjoys listening to music, traveling, and playing tennis.
