Both Germany and Canada confront similar challenges in terms of skilled worker shortages and marked regional differences in the way migration and credential assessments are processed. The Canadian model has been seen as one of the most innovative approaches to immigration worldwide. But is this still adequate? What can we learn by comparing two advanced migration socities? We compare the situation in Germany and Canada by concentrating on the integration of immigrant health care workers. The webinar sheds light on the existing regulations and realities that have evolved in Germany and Canada for this occupational group. We will highlight differences and similarities concerning the organisation of international health care worker migration and credential assessment, and focus on the experiences of immigrant health care workers as they engage with formal immigration and entry to practice regulations . A focus is on the way fair migration policy is handled in theory and practice in the two countries will frame our conversation.
