Randall M. Wigle

Randall Wigle is a Professor Emeritus in the School of International Policy and Governance and the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at  Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo Ontario, Canada. He has published widely on topics in the areas of environmental policy and  international trade policy. The overwhelming majority of this work relates to computable general equilibrium modeling. This modeling simulates the world economy’s response to environmental and trade policies.

A broad theme in this work is the interactions among environmental, trade and fiscal policies. Dr. Wigle’s recent work has focused on Canadian climate related policies, including energy policy and transportation. Dr. Wigle is currently looking into the economic analysis of reducing transport GHG emissions. Some earlier work on renewable energy and transportation policy was done in collaboration with Marisa Beck, Nic Rivers and Hidemichi Yonezawa. Some of the work on renewable energy has been supported by Smart Prosperity.

Dr. Wigle’s teaching in recent years has focused on environmental economics and policy.
