Aleyna Aygor is a graduate student in the International Public Policy program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Prior to her acceptance into the program, she graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy. Due to her growing interest in human behaviour and psyche, she also completed a minor in Psychology.

While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Aleyna observed the limits and structural problems of justice systems in multiple countries. This caused her to become interested in foreign affairs and feel particularly drawn to studying perspectives that shape international public policy. At the BSIA, Aleyna aims to study the role power and resources play in policymaking, and seek for ways to improve the lives of people worldwide. Her research interests include topics in human security, migration, and global governance. She also has an ongoing interest in human rights issues, particularly concerning the experiences of war-affected refugees and other displaced persons.

Aleyna is currently spending her time volunteering for organizations that make meaningful contributions to policy space. Upon graduation, her main goal is to work with international organizations and governments to break the vicious cycles of inequality in the world and be the voice of those who are not given one.
