PhD in Global Governance

Yazgulu Sezgin is a PhD student at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Wilfrid Laurier University. Her interests are centered around migration policies, refugee protection, gender equality and social cohesion.

Yazgulu holds a Master of Law in International Law from the University of Kent where her research focused on legal instruments on human trafficking. She has experience in international relations and refugee protection through her work in United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for 6 years. She worked as a Senior Field Protection Associate where she designed and implemented projects on prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, child marriage and child labour among Syrian refugees in Turkey. She has also been working as a consultant for international NGOs to support the preparation of their refugee protection programme strategies and priorities.
