PhD in Global Governance

Rosemary Kimani-Dupuis was born in Nairobi, Kenya. Rosemary undertook studies and worked in Aeronautical Engineering, where she inspected, repaired, overhauled and installed (running fault diagnostics) aircraft and helicopter electronic, radio and navigation systems—Airbus A310,Boeing B737-200 and B737-300, Cessna Citation, Beech King Air, Pilatus PC-12, Schweizer 300C and Bell 206B. Rosemary currently works at Service Ontario (past 3 years). As front-end work, Rosemary not only participates in the formulation of policies but she also gets to see the implementation of these polices and how the Public responds to polices positively and negatively. Most importantly, Rosemary witnesses how policies impact lives at the individual level and the collective. Rosemary’s Master’s work focused on refugee women’s experiences of settlement and integration in Canada, who they are and where they belong as the ‘Unknown Anonymous Other’. The focus was to analyze the vital role refugee women can play within this process by offering a critical perspective of the settlement and integration process (policies, programs and practices). During her MA studies Rosemary worked as a teaching assistant.

Rosemary is a supporting member to both Food for Education, an NGO supporting reduction of poverty through education and child health through increased school enrollment – Kenya, and The Canadian Resource Center for Victims of Crime – an organization advocating for victims and survivors of serious crime. Rosemary is also a volunteer with The Volunteer Registry for Multilingual Support, a centralized database for translators in support of diversity and inclusion.

Outside of her academic life Rosemary likes to read and write fiction (she is working on her novels), walking/hiking, baking, going swimming with her son, fishing and gardening with her husband. She does yoga/pray/meditate to reenergize. Rosemary loves board games and  she codes, computer language is one of her other languages. Over the past two years, Rosemary has been developing her business – Tazama Company which she founded in 2012.
