Reagan Roopnarine

Master of Arts in Global Governance

Reagan holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto (UofT). At UofT, she majored in Political Science and minored in Environmental Policy and Professional Writing and Communication. Throughout her undergraduate career, Reagan worked at student unions, representing her university locally and nationally. She specialized in equity issues, advocating for food security on-campuses, affordable housing, fossil fuel divestment, and more. Continuing her advocacy, Reagan is currently the Equity Coordinator at the University of Waterloo’s Graduate Students’ Union.

In addition to union experience, in 2021, Reagan worked as a constituency assistant in the federal office of MP Sonia Sidhu, creating communication products to inform the public of new federal programs, funding, and vaccine procurement.

Moving beyond work and school, Reagan is interested in sustainability initiatives. In 2020, Reagan and her colleagues received the Adam’s Sustainability Student Grant from the University of Toronto. They used this funding to introduce a seed library to UofT’s Mississauga campus, inclusive of food security workshops and gardening equipment rentals.

As a graduate student at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Reagan intends to research the political barriers to effective international climate policy.
