Nelson Graham is a PhD candidate in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs through Wilfrid Laurier University. His research delves into the pivotal role higher education institutions are playing in providing academic and integration supports to international students. Additionally, he explores how international student’s temporary status hinders their access to federal and provincial supports, thus increasing their reliance on their host college or university’s support system.
Nelson completed his Master of Arts in geography at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and his Bachelor of Arts in geography at the University of British Columbia. Given his background in the discipline of geography, Nelson is increasingly interested in the role of multiscalar immigration policies and how such policies and streams impact newcomers’ access to integration and entrepreneurial services.
