Jacob Tuckey is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Global Governance program at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, specializing in Strategy and International Policy. His research interests center on the role of state industrial strategy and trade governance in the technology, defense, and energy sectors.
In the final year of his undergraduate degree, Jacob served as editor-in-chief of the Laurier Business and Economics Review, where he oversaw the development of an independent research project on the expansion of the BRICS grouping in collaboration with two other student organizations.
Jacob has also completed professional placements in consulting, business development, and operations management with tech-focused businesses of all sizes. Beyond his career activities, Jacob enjoys getting involved with the community by participating in grassroots initiatives including humanitarian relief efforts for Ukraine.
While at the Balsillie School, Jacob aspires to gain a meaningful understanding of global economic cooperation and develop novel, strategically minded perspectives. In his career, he hopes to encourage sound decision-making in both the public and private sectors on emerging geopolitical risks.
