Believe it – or Not: Trump, Tariffs, and Trade Wars

January 30 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Should we take President Trump’s trade threats seriously? What’s the real source of America’s trade troubles? And do we know – does Trump even know – what he wants?

About the Speaker

Dr. John Hancock works at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he has served as senior policy advisor to the Director-General, representative to the IMF and World Bank, and head of policy development. He spearheaded the launch of the WTO’s Aid-for-Trade Initiative, as well as the recent ‘Joint Initiatives’ on investment facilitation and other emerging issues. Prior to joining the WTO, John was senior advisor to Canada’s trade minister. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University, has written and spoken frequently on international issues.
