In partnership with the Tshepo Institute, the African Forum is pleased to host this inaugural webinar about the impact of COVID-19 in Africa.
The COVID-19 pandemic has inevitably left a profound mark on the world and highlighted the inherent vulnerabilities of the rules based international order and the multilateral system. It has had geopolitical, economic, and social implications that will undoubtedly shape the everyday experiences of people around the world. Its impact has profoundly been felt throughout Africa, as the pandemic has disrupted the lives of millions of people and continuous to pose a multitude of challenges on many of the world’s most fragile states. Practitioners and scholars from throughout Africa will discuss the impact that the pandemic has had throughout the continent and will touch on recent COVID-19 trends and developments, as well as assessing the effectiveness and shortcomings of the policy responses and strategies to the pandemic.

Dr. Gebeyehu Teferi, MD is a graduate of Georgetown University, an Infectious Diseases specialist and volunteer researcher at the National Institute of Health (NIH) for COVID-19. Dr. Teferi is also a member of the Ethiopian Diaspora Advisory Council on COVID-19, and served as the liaison officer to Ministry of Health of Ethiopia.
