Warm congratulations to BSIA Director Ann Fitz-Gerald, who was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal on December 2, 2024 in Ottawa. The award recognizes Ann’s influential research and leadership in international security and conflict resolution, particularly in Africa, and her leadership at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, which has elevated the School’s reputation as an internationally recognized public policy institution.

The Coronation Medal commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada. The medal program was first announced three days before the Coronation, on 3 May 2023, by the Prime Minister. The design of the medal and the details of the program were announced by Rideau Hall on 6 May 2024, the first anniversary of the Coronation. Eligible candidates must have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.

Congratulations, Ann – the School values your inspiring leadership!
