Hannah recently graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science specializing in Research with a minor in Geography. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Hannah developed a strong interest in researching gender, development, peace, and conflict. In the final year of her undergraduate program, Hannah had the opportunity as one of twelve undergraduate Political Science students to create an undergraduate major research paper. Hannah’s paper utilized a multi-method feminist critical analysis to review South Africa’s National Action Plan (2020) on Women, Peace and Security. At the graduate level, she hopes to continue similar research on gender, peace and security while exploring the potential of a community-based research approach.

Outside academics, Hannah worked as an undergraduate Teaching Assistant (Instructional Assistant) for Dr. Loren King and Dr. Andrew Basso at Wilfrid Laurier University. Through this experience, Hannah became involved in IA unionization efforts, which strengthened her understanding of the benefits of community organizing. Hannah also volunteered with various student organizations, NGOs, and mutual aid-focused groups, including serving as the President of Xlerate Lazaridis, a Lazaridis Student Society organization supporting first-year business and economics students.

As a graduate student at BSIA, Hannah hopes to delve further into the gendered nuances of international politics. Hannah hopes to utilize an interdisciplinary approach to help address gender inequalities and biases in conflict, peace and security sectors.
