Anthara Muralidharan

Masters in International Public Policy

Anthara received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Statistics from Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai (affiliated with the University of Mumbai), India, and a Master of Arts in Economics from the Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (MSEPP), University of Mumbai, India. Anthara has four years of corporate work experience as a data analyst for multinational consulting firms. Alongside working in the corporate sector, she worked for two non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in India, which focused on making quality education and skill development accessible to students from economically underprivileged backgrounds.

Anthara’s areas of interest include monetary, education, environmental, and fiscal policies. Her graduate thesis focussed on the Kyoto Protocol and the emissions trading mechanism. She is passionate about bridging the gap in the availability of resources to young adults. Her work in the NGOs allowed her to explore research papers written by prominent economists about the education sector in developing countries. Having witnessed major economic reforms in India, for example, the 1991 economic reforms, implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), and deep penetration of digital payment frameworks, Anthara’s interest in impactful policy initiatives only strengthened over time.

At BSIA, Anthara looks forward to learning and strengthening her understanding of the tools required to make impactful policy recommendations. Working on relevant projects and reading extensively during the course will help her prepare for future opportunities in government sectors and think tanks.
