Nidhu Jagoda is a recent graduate, holding a Master of Climate Change from the University of Waterloo, from where she also previously pursed a Bachelor of Science, Honors Environmental Science, specializing in Geoscience and a minoring in Biology. Her research interests lie in the nexus of global environmental and climate change governance, sustainable development policy framework, and changing governance paradigms in the face of tackling the climate crisis.
She has a diverse range of professional and leadership experience, that has only further confirmed her passion for environmental sustainability issues and continues to drive her professional aspirations. She is the current National Network Coordinator for the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) – Canada Youth Chapter, and a Legal Research Group Member at the CISDL. She formerly worked as a research intern, the TRANSFORM project under the direction of Dr Sarah Burch; a teaching assistant, UW; Junior Hydrogeologist, Matrix Solutions; Geochemical Laboratory Assistant, Groundwater Geochemistry and Remediation Research Group (GGR); Environmental Assistant, Environmental Services and Contaminated Sites (ESCS); and Operations and Outreach assistant, a federal Innovation LAB.
Ms. Jagoda has actively engaged in youth advocacy/leadership and climate change related activities. She chairs the task force for SDSN Youth Canada initiative Project 30: A national youth climate advocacy campaign, she serves as co-chair for the ImpAct Students Advisory Committee for Colleges and Institutes Canada, and she previously co-chaired the UN/Networks Climate Change Working Group.
She believes that transformative action around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly climate action, is needed to create more resilient and equitable communities and societies and is interested in exploring climate change governance structures through her graduate studies.
